Account Deletion
This page explains, in plain and straightforward language, how Spark Scout handles account deletion requests. It is intended as a general summary of the process and does not replace the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or any other legally binding agreement.
Depending on your location, you may have specific legal rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request deletion.
How to Request Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your Spark Scout account through your Account Settings or by contacting support at admin@sparkscout.com.
We may require verification of your identity before processing your request to protect against unauthorized access or fraudulent requests.
Your Data Rights
Depending on applicable law (including, where relevant, the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request restriction or limitation of certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
These rights are subject to certain exceptions and limitations under applicable law.
How to Access Your Data
You may request a copy of your data through your Account Settings.
Data exports are provided in a structured, commonly used JSON format and may include, where applicable:
- Profile information
- Account activity
- Campaigns and applications
- Messages
- Invoices and transaction records
- Related account data
Requests are processed asynchronously, and delivery times may vary depending on the size and complexity of the request.
To prevent abuse, data export requests are limited to one request every 30 days.
Requirements Before Requesting Account Deletion
Before submitting an account deletion request, the following conditions must be satisfied:
- Any active campaigns must be completed, canceled, or otherwise closed.
- Any outstanding or unpaid invoices must be resolved.
- We reserve the right to delay or deny deletion requests that do not meet these requirements, where permitted by law.
Content and Media Retention
Any stored images or media that are not part of an active or completed campaign will be removed after the 30-day hold period.
Content associated with campaigns may be retained in accordance with platform records, agreements between users, or legal and operational requirements, but will no longer be associated with personally identifiable information after anonymization where applicable.
30-Day Hold Period
When an account deletion request is submitted, the account enters a 30-day hold period before permanent deletion and anonymization are completed.
- Allow you to reverse the request if submitted in error
- Support fraud prevention and security review processes
During this period:
- The account is deactivated and login access is disabled.
- The account is not available in a read-only state during this period.
What Happens During the Hold Period
Once a deletion request is received:
- We send a confirmation that the deletion request has been received.
- The account is deactivated and access is suspended.
- The account remains in a pending deletion state for 30 days.
- A reminder may be sent before the deletion window expires.
Restoring an Account During the Hold Period
An account may be restored during the 30-day hold period before permanent deletion is completed.
- Upon request by the user, subject to identity verification.
- Admins may also restore an account during the hold period where appropriate.
What Happens After 30 Days
If the deletion request is not reversed within the 30-day hold period, personally identifiable information associated with the account is removed or anonymized.
- Removal or nullification of identifying account fields such as email address.
- Public-facing references may be anonymized, including replacing a username with a label such as "deleted user."
- Retention of certain records in anonymized or non-identifiable form.
Data We May Retain
We may retain certain information after account deletion where necessary to comply with legal obligations or for legitimate business purposes, including:
- Legal and regulatory compliance
- Accounting and financial reporting
- Fraud prevention, security, and abuse detection
- Dispute resolution and enforcement of agreements
Examples of retained data may include:
- Financial and transactional records
- Security, fraud, and abuse prevention records
- Operational logs and backup records for limited periods
- Aggregated or anonymized analytics data
Where required by applicable law, retained data will be minimized and protected in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Communications You May Receive
During the deletion process, you may receive:
- An immediate confirmation that your request has been received
- A reminder before the hold period expires
- A final confirmation once deletion and anonymization have been completed
Effect on Content, Transactions, and Platform Records
Deleting your account may affect your access to campaigns, applications, messages, invoices, uploaded content, and other platform records.
Following deletion:
- Some records may no longer be associated with your identity
- Some records may be retained where legally required or operationally necessary
No Immediate Erasure Guarantee
Deletion requests are not processed as immediate full erasure. Spark Scout utilizes the 30-day hold period and subsequent anonymization workflow described above. In some cases, certain records may need to be retained longer due to legal, regulatory, contractual, accounting, fraud prevention, or security obligations.
Changes to This Process
We may update or modify this account deletion process from time to time. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes.
Continued use of Spark Scout after such updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised process, to the extent permitted by law.
